RVU is a technology protocol that adds a remote user interface to UPnP device discovery and DLNA audio/video content streaming specifications. RVUs RUI graphic commands are unique to the RVU protocol and do not correspond to any other existing protocol or standard. The protocol is based on a client-server architecture, with the specific aim of utilizing low cost clients and imposing no hardware overhead. The server is typically supplied by a content service provider that allows the distribution and management of video and a consistent user experience to one or many consumer electronic devices. The RVU protocol whitepaper describes RVU technology and its applications. RVU technology is embodied in the RVU protocol specifications and protocol compliance is ensured by a certification program.
